The Woodlands Waterway - Houston, TX
It's beginning to be that time of year when all you want to do is be outside. Spring has arrived in Texas, and we have had some gorgeous weekends here recently. The little titan and I are taking each opportunity to spend our spring outdoors and have found ourselves hanging out at The Woodlands Waterway recently with daddy. The Woodlands Waterway and Waterway Square has become one of our most favorite hangout spots in north Houston. Although a drive away from the city, about 45 minutes, it has so much to offer as a fun getaway on the weekend.
The waterway reminds me of the San Antonio River Walk, but less crowded and way more green-space for your little ones to run around. There are a ton of family friendly restaurants to try including one of our favorites, The Goose's Acre. You must try the fish and chips meal and they have a great cocktail list if you just want to stop in for a drink and a lemonade for your little titan.
If your little one is anything like Atlas, they will love to catch a ride on the vintage Water Trolley that travels throughout the Square. There is no cost to ride the trolley and you can catch a ride on Monday-Saturday from 11:00 am-8:00 pm or Sunday from 12:00 pm-6:00 pm. You can take the trolley to The Woodlands Mall or just ride it once around the square as an inexpensive and fun family outing for a Saturday afternoon. After your trolley ride, walk up and down the Woodlands Waterway paths and catch a bite to eat before heading home!
It was so nice to get outside and put on some shorts for spring, even though my legs are seriously white right now! Oh well, I guess my legs stay white pretty much year round with having red hair and all. I wore my new favorite spring shorts from Altar'd State which you can now visit at The Woodlands Mall. They are a beautiful turquoise color, which the website says mint, but I think they are more turquoise. They have a classy high waist and scalloped edge, with a nice quality fabric. Since I do have white legs I am often very self conscious about wearing shorts, but these are just the right length and the thick fabric helps me feel a little more covered up. As a mom I'll admit that the cut off denim shorts are no longer my style and I'm moving towards more classic and tailored shorts for my spring wardrobe. Something else I love is how easy these shorts are to dress up or down. They are classy enough to wear to a spring wedding with a tailored top, or dressed down with a light weight sweater and sandals. P.S. they also come in a pretty pink color. The tailored fit is so good I suggest you get both pair for spring. :)
I hope you and your families are able to get out and enjoy the weather this weekend. If your looking for something to do this weekend I definitely recommend a Saturday getaway to The Woodlands Waterway. Happy Friday and I hope you have a sunny weekend!
Until our next adventure,
A Titan's Mother
