This past weekend we took Atlas to one of our favorite local parks in North Houston, Candy Cane Park for a short mini adventure with the little titan. Unfortunately my husband had to work for the long weekend and so we didn't get much time together as a family. I really dislike when that happens, it sometimes feels like when I'm off he has to work and visa versa, which is no fun. We still made the best of the time we did get together and went on a walk through Candy Cane Park, stopped at the Montgomery County Heritage Museum and played on the jungle gym until the day got too hot. It was a perfect couple of hours we did get with Daddy!
I've noticed that our summer wardrobe has been quite colorful this year, and I couldn't be more in love with this emerald green midi-skirt from the She Traveled African collection. The emerald color is truly gorgeous and is the perfect compliment to my light skin tone. The fabric is so soft and with three layers I love how full this skirt feels on. The drape of the fabric to my mid-calf makes me feel so feminine that I could just live in this skirt all summer long! I find myself falling more in love with skirts over dresses lately because I love the versatility of a beautiful skirt. A skirt always me to mix one piece with several different blouses for a completely new outfit, and as a mom on a budget I prefer several outfits over just one! I paired my emerald Casablanca skirt with a floral button up blouse I picked up from Anthropologie last year, and then completed my look with a thick Fossil belt to accentuate my waist. I love the floral tops that She Traveled has in stock including the Johannesburg floral top.
I was so happy to stumble across She Traveled on Instagram because I love the beautiful modest styles they offer at affordable prices! They also have excellent sales, and if you follow them on Instagram they announce them pretty regularly. I wanted to get a top to go with my skirt, but like I said this momma is on a budget, especially when it comes to buying clothes for myself. I tend to purchase one piece I absolutely love and mix it into my current wardrobe! FYI this skirt also comes in a cream blush color, and as much as I love blush I just can't pull it off with my fair skin. So the emerald shade was perfect for me!
If you live in the Houston area I would say it is worth a trip to the Montgomery County Heritage Museum to see the historic Grogan/Cochran home, built in 1924. I absolutely adore old homes and getting to walk around the huge front porch and gardens around the Grogan home was very special. We didn't get to visit the museum that is hosted inside, but I would like to go again to learn more about the history of the area. The play ground is right next to the Grogan home, so in my opinion is the perfect day trip for moms and little titan's.
We made one last stop at the newly relocated Strake-Gray Oilfield House and Roughneck House after playing at the park. Atlas and I danced on the little porch and it was such a fun moment that Daddy was able to capture! I'm glad I wore my leather nine west nude flats instead of heels for plenty of dancing time! My nude flats have been a staple in my summer closet, I probably wear them to work at least twice a week and I love the cut-out design for extra breathing room during the summer. They are so comfy for walking and perfect for chasing around a little titan. I am currently crushing on these flat bow pointy nude flats as well.
I am really enjoying summer so far and soft light weight pieces from skirts to breezy tops and easy shoes have been my go-to lately. You can shop some of the pieces from our summer style below, and I have also picked similar items from the pieces I already had in my closet. I hope you get the chance to visit the She Traveled website, they are becoming a go to brand for me because they just do it right from top to bottom. The fit, fabric and color of this skirt was done perfectly! Have a great day everyone!
Until our next adventure,
